Most people fail the Irish driver theory test for one reason: they read the questions once and hope for the best. This guide walks through every part of our driving theory test app, so your revision actually targets the topics you keep getting wrong. All 800+ official questions are here, each with an explainer, and every screenshot below is the real mobile app — the same screens you will see on your phone.
Quick takeaways
- Mixed practice — 10 random questions, free, ideal for a two-minute session.
- Smart practice (Pro) — builds a session from your weakest categories automatically.
- Mock theory test — 40 questions, 45 minutes, pass mark 35/40, exactly like the RSA exam.
- Every answer shows why it is right, not just a tick or a cross.
- My statistics tracks accuracy per category, so you can see what to fix next.
- Study reminders (Pro) nudge you on your own weekly schedule — and skip the nudge if you already practised.
Getting Started: Your Dashboard
After you sign in, the dashboard is your home base. It shows how many mock exams you have taken, your best score, the number of questions answered and your current daily streak — the four numbers that actually tell you whether you are ready to book your test.
Underneath, every study mode is one tap away. You do not need to plan a revision timetable: start anywhere, and the app records what you got right so the next session can be smarter than the last.

Choosing a Practice Mode
The Practice screen is where most of your driving theory practice questions get answered. Every mode draws from the same official bank of 800+ RSA questions — what changes is how the questions are chosen for you.
If you only have a couple of minutes, Mixed practice is the fastest way in. If you are closer to your exam date, Smart practice is the one that moves the needle, because it stops you re-answering the questions you already know.

Mixed practice (free)
Ten random questions across every category, with instant feedback. The quickest way to keep a daily streak alive.
Smart practice (Pro)
Looks at your accuracy per topic and assembles a session from the categories you keep failing. Pick 10, 20 or 30 questions — the app decides which ones.
Learning modules
Eight topic modules covering everything in the RSA test. Study a topic, then take its mini-test to check the material actually stuck.
All questions
The full official bank, in order or shuffled, with your place saved. This is how you make sure no question can surprise you on exam day.
Learn From Every Answer, Not Just the Score
A theory test practice test that only tells you wrong teaches you nothing. Here, the moment you choose an option the app marks your answer, highlights the correct one, and explains the reasoning underneath.
That explainer is the difference between memorising 800 answers and understanding the Rules of the Road. Questions get reworded in the real exam — understanding survives rewording, memorising does not.

The Mock Theory Test: Rehearse the Real Thing
When practice starts feeling easy, switch to a mock theory test. It mirrors the real RSA exam exactly: 40 questions, a 45-minute countdown, and a pass mark of 35 out of 40.
The timer matters more than people expect. Plenty of candidates know the material and still fail because they have never answered 40 questions against a clock. Sit two or three driving theory mock exams before your booking and exam day stops feeling unfamiliar.

Treat Your First Mock as a Diagnostic
Do not revise before your first mock. Sit it cold, see where you land, then let the score report point you at the categories to fix. A mock you fail early is far more useful than one you pass after cramming the same twenty questions.
Track Your Progress by Category
My statistics turns everything you have answered into one picture: mocks taken, best score, questions answered, current streak, and — most usefully — your accuracy in each category.
This is the screen that tells you what to do next. If Rules of the Road sits at 45% and Traffic Lights & Signals is at 90%, you already know where the next twenty minutes should go.

Study Reminders That Respect Your Week
Consistency beats marathon sessions, and reminders are how you get it. In Settings you can enable study reminders, then build a weekly schedule with up to two reminders a day, each at its own time, in your device's timezone.
There are two modes. Always sends the nudge exactly on schedule. Smart checks first: if you already practised that day, the reminder is skipped — so it never nags you for something you have already done.

Starting Over: Resetting Your Progress
Sometimes a clean slate is the right call — you rushed the first hundred questions, or you are coming back after months away and the old numbers no longer reflect what you know.
At the bottom of Settings you can reset your progress. Be aware of what goes: it wipes your answer history, your accuracy, your streak and your bookmarked questions. Your account, your language and your Pro access are untouched — but there is no undo, so if you have been collecting tricky questions as bookmarks, that collection goes too.

What Pro Adds
You can revise for free, and plenty of people do. The free tier gives you a genuine sample of the question bank with the same explainers — enough to find out whether the material is harder than you assumed.
Pro exists for the part that free cannot do: unlimited attempts, the full bank, timed mocks, and the analysis that tells you where you are weak. If your test is booked and money is already committed to the fee, the arithmetic is straightforward.

A Revision Plan That Works
Sit one mock cold to find your baseline. Spend a week on Smart practice, ten minutes a day, letting it hammer your weakest categories. Then sit mocks until you clear 38/40 twice in a row — comfortably above the 35 you actually need. That margin is what absorbs exam-day nerves.
